... family size wash bag.

Looking a for a wash bag that is big enough to hold all the toiletries needed for a family of 4. I inevitably have to pack adult shampoo/ conditioner/ deodorant/ shower gel, plus the same in kids version, plus everyone's toothbrushes, toothpastes, hair brushes. Plus more (Suncream, calpol, etc)

Would like something that can hold it all, rather than loads of different bags.

Anyone come across something like this?

Why do you need it all in one wash bag? That's going to be a whole mini suitcase on its own. Why not just separate them into individual bags/cases? Much less cumbersome and you can keep adults and kids separate

I don’t see why you’d want or need this but… it’s basically a giant waterproof bag right? Why not use one of those drawstring PE kit or swimming bags?

bluelid · 30/03/2023 18:08

Just find it easier to have it all in one place, I guess.

You're right though... probably will need a mini suitcase Grin

Order it all to collect at boots airside so won't take your liquid allowance up - use on holiday, hopefully all of it then travel home without

Hi I'm sure I'm correct in saying that you have to pack all liquids separately for each flying passenger into the bags that they supply at the airports, I personally just use a small white food bag each for us.

Newcastle airport charge you £2.00 for one of these small bags, Edinburgh Airport supply them free.
If you take a large bag with everything together they will ask you to separate it all.

Are you putting it into you hold luggage or to hand luggage. Hand will definitely have to be in the small bags. Easier still just buy it when you get there no hassle or extra costs. It about the same price if not cheaper.

Georgyporky · 30/03/2023 18:31

Re previous posts, surely it all goes in hold luggage anyway.

I decant toiletries into travel containers to save weight & space.

Why do kids have different shampoos etc? Why not just one product for all?

Fortheloveofus · 30/03/2023 18:36

Specially if it's a holiday abroad, surely you'd want to distribute the weight more evenly. If you're driving, fair enough, just throw it all in a plastic bag

A carrier bag, 10p from Sainsburys? 😎

I don't have a recommendation but something to think about that I read once..

It's sometimes better to split things like this into separate cases if you take more than one case. The same with clothes too. That way if one of your cases gets lost (god forbid) you still have clothes and toiletries etc for each person

I hope that makes sense but definitely something to consider I think!

bluelid · 30/03/2023 21:53

Thank you @waltzingparrot this looks good.

I have a uk trip and a holiday abroad, so thinking of both scenarios.

Good points about ordering from boots at the airport (I remember doing this with Aptamil ready made bottles when mine were babies) and also about spreading the stuff across cases in case of a lost bag.

Kids need separate shampoo, toothpaste, etc., as they're still quite small so they use Johnson's no tears/ milk teeth, etc, and I can only use certain (expensive) stuff if I want my mental hair to be any kind of manageable on holiday!

I guess when I was younger and only packing for myself, I'd always just put all my toiletries in one bag (and obvs they could fit because it was only my stuff) and I must be hung up on that idea. Maybe it's time to embrace a new approach 😂

By the way my 'expensive' comment in the previous post wasn't mean to come across as flashy! I was aiming for the point that I don't want to waste it on my kids/ husband's hair! Grin
