Sveti Vlas regrets

I’m starting to have second thoughts about a holiday I’ve booked. Last year we went away with our four adult children to Majorca in the middle of the heatwave. It was so hot we didn’t leave the hotel, just in and out of the pool drinking cocktails in the shade. I thought I’d hate it but it was the most relaxing holiday we’ve ever had.
so this year I decided to just go AI and not plan a million excursions and try to replicate the chilled feeling. I asked them all to send links to hotels they liked and they were really keen on Bulgaria. I think because on our budget ,€6000, the hotels looked more insta worthy.
So I’ve booked Dreams resort in Sveti Vlas but am now thinking I’ve made a terrible mistake and I shouldn’t have asked anyone and just booked a more basic looking hotel in Crete, where I wanted to go. I just wanted to please them as I don’t know how much longer they will want to come on holiday with us.
Anyway, tldr version, has anyone been to Sveti Vlas and is it horrendous or will I love it?

Can't help you OP but I know the feeling about booking for everyone else. I have always booked what will suit DC. Trying to accommodate preferences for meals, type of hotel and location. I think that's one reason they continued to holiday abroad every year with us right up to their early 20s. In fact DS2 (25) still comes abroad with us often and every year I book a big luxury house in the UK and they both come with partners. I love their company and will invite them as long as they want to come.

I've never fancied Bulgaria but maybe you get more for your money there. Obviously you can check tripadviser but I also find most resorts have a FB group of people who love the place. Worthwhile for all kinds of tips and insights.

I have an apartment in Vlas (For the last 15Years) and I’m sure you’ll all have a fabulous time. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks @NoBiscuitsLeftInMyTin, I was starting to think no one had ever been there!
I think watching Emergency Sunny Beach freaked me out a bit. I know it’s a different resort but it’s close enough. My brain says these documentaries are all nonsense and things are just done for the camera but there’s a little voice in the back of my mind whispering what have you done 🤣

Well.. having said that I think that what you’ve seen is quite possibly 95% true - but Sunny Beach in the day is lovely, and can be at night depending on what you want and how you behave! Vlas is lovely 24/7 though.
