Has anyone been to Jersey?

If so what's it like? We all need passports renewing this year and there looks to be delays at the passport office this summer. Coupled with having a one year old I'm not sure I can be bothered with the faff of going abroad.

Dh suggested jersey because it feels like going abroad without actually needing a passport. And its only 1 hour on a plane from an airport local to us.

But what's it like? It doesn't look like there's much there. Along with the baby we have a primary age dc who would need entertaining. Is the weather good in summer? Any experience very much appreciated!

Fun fact is that 18% of species saved from extinction world-wide has been saved by the Durrell Wildlife Trust. They pack an amazing punch for an organisation based on a tiny island; an amazing legacy from Gerald Durrell.

I have spent so many hours at that zoo and everyone I’ve ever taken there as a visitor has loved it.

The zoo is great, and we love the beaches...
We mainly go to visit family so don't always fit it much touristy stuff but I do like it as a place to visit with children

Hi mums,

I am thinking of going to Jersey with my kids this half term. We are visa holders in the UK; my hubby and I have passports, but the kids don't have a passport or visa ( they do have birth certificates). Does anyone have experience travelling to Jersey with kids who don't have a photographic identity except a passport?

Many thanks to everyone who will respond; it is appreciated.

Hi. Jersey is within the Common Travel Area so it’s up to the carriers to stipulate what photo ID they want. With kids they are usually pretty relaxed if the adults with them have passports. BA over EasyJet and Jet2 in my experience for fewer checks overall, especially if you’re not checking any luggage in. Via ferry there are no ID checks at all.

If you want to be really sure I’d just contact the airline and ask them direct and they’ll probably suggest something acceptable if they think child ID is needed.

The buses are awesome and zip you all over the island. No need to hire a car. We swam at Gorey pier which was lovely. The zoo is incredible. Spent the whole day there
