Caribbean or Oman in December?

We’re planning a family holiday in the Christmas holidays and have narrowed it to the Caribbean (Barbados or St Lucia) or Oman. I really can’t decide between the two! Would love to hear views of either/both.
Kids are 9 and 7 and into swimming/snorkelling.

Carribean all the way!

Gah Caribbean * . Barbados for me !

Thanks - I’m leaning that way. Oman looks amazing but more of an adventure and at that time of year I’ll probably want something easy.

I was going to say Oman. Might not be quite as warm, but loads to do that’s exciting. We have made this exact choice.

St Lucia is lovely

Oman is my favourite holiday place and they love kids, the Children's museum in Muscat is great, like a mini science museum. There are loads of forts and hot springs to explore, and the souk in Muscat is pretty friendly and not intimidating.

I'd go to Oman because I'd prefer the time difference to work in my favour on the way back. It's harder to get over jetlag in the middle of December.

However, if that means the kids are going to be up ridiculously early then that might not work for you.

Oman.

Not been in December but have been to Oman twice (pre DD) and hoping to go again this year. It’s beautiful, and there is loads to do in muscat or you can just relax on the beach/by the pool, it’s absolutely one of my favourite places in the world. Which hotels have you looked at?

Rather go to Oman. I’ve been to the Caribbean but prefer the vibes of Oman. I find there isn’t much to do outside of the beach whenever I’ve visited the Caribbean (Barbados, Jamaica). I love Oman - so much history & fantastic scenery. Not to mention - much safer.

We’ve done both at Christmas, Oman is far nicer, better hotels and levels of service and far less crowded. Weather is lovely and lots of interesting day trips to do

Caribbean all the way, some actual nature.

Oman.

Lovey at that time of year, lots to do, incredibly friendly people who are nothing but welcoming. Time difference is quick to recover from and hotel service levels and facilities are better IMO than the Caribbean. Usually the Middle East is also better priced.

we did it with kids one December, flew out after school on that red eye and were on the beach at 8am local time. One little nap and we were all set for a lovely week.
