Kefalonia in September

We're keen for a week in September but have read the weather can be a bit iffy. Can anyone confirm this, or reassure me?

There's more chance of rain in the Ionians. That's why they're so lush and green. Crete or one of the Dodecanese would be safer.

Have fashioned an amazing uti dry - train to Athens via an Adriatic ferry then back to Kefalonia for some R&R. Didn't want to push on further south but may have to rethink!

We have done Kefalonia in the last week of the season and found it fine and still beautifully hot. The evenings were a little cooler but we were fine without cardis and jackets whereas the locals were starting to add layers. lol. It's a lovely island.

Where did you stay @Rainbow1901 ? Where would you recommend? We love beaching and walking and a bit of history. And food!

We were in a small self catering studio apartments called Evita Studios in Svoronata which was situated at the top of the hill literally two or three coach stops from the Airport at the bottom of the hill but it has it's own pool and mini-market on site. But we used to enjoy a twenty - thirty minute stroll under the stars to wherever we chose to have dinner (take a torch!) We went all over the island but hired a car for four days and went everywhere while we had the car and then chilled the rest of the time. Local Bus service was very good and we booked a tour or two as well. Despite the closeness of the airport it didn't bother us too much at the hotel but we went for a meal at a hotel along the road to Argostoli and the noise was pretty loud but the airport shuts at night so once the last plane comes in peace reigns!!

I had a wet week in Lefkas in September which is close to Kefalonia. However I was windsurfing so the rain didn't matter. It's why the Ionians are greener than the southern islands.

Hi,
We stayed on Ithaca which is the tiny island right next to Kephalonia during the first week of October last year. The weather was a bit overcast for the 1st day but it was still warm, and the rest of the week we had sunshine every day and temps in mid to high 20's. The sea was nice to swim in.
They did say there could be some storms and high winds but we seemed to be lucky. The only thing is it did get quite chilly during the evenings.
