Tignes is summer or alternative

Hi all
I've posted a few things lately still looking for a unicorn of a holiday but think I've found a type we want to go for
So Tignes in the summer has anyone been and where did you stay?
The watersports look perfect for the kids and looks beautiful but I don't know where to book through.
Do we absolutely need a car? How much will activities cost?
Someone mentioned hintertux also.
If someone could tell me about either place and a good place to book through I'd really appreciate it.
I found a site called peak retreats who said it was about £1200 for ferry and accommodation which isn't bad. But the drive is then 9 hours so wasn't sure if better to fly somewhere else similar with less travelling time
I'm so confused by it all but we wanted a lake holiday and it looks perfect

Personally I would book things separately rather than using a company. I've just booked accommodation in Canada using 3 different sites (Airbnb, booking.com and Agoda!).

It is possible to drive in one day but nicer to do it over 2 days and get a cheap motorway motel on the way. l (may need to make it a 16 day break in that case).

I have been on self drive summer holidays with Peak Retreats and they are very good and reasonably priced (particularly if you drive as they have good deals for ferry or eurotunnel). I think Tignes would be a good option particularly with teenagers. If your children are younger you could also consider going to Les Gets or Samoens with them. There is a nice swimming lake in Les Gets. Their customer service is very good and they are ABTA bonded.

Tignes looks great but if you want to fly be aware it’s a long and winding transfer from any airport .

Morzine has similar activity options but a much shorter transfer (from geneva) so you may want to look there if flying.

Lake Geneva also has watersports, easy to reach.
