Looking to book New York flying from Manchester Feb 24 (half term) 2 adults and 2 children. It's coming out at 3k at the minute for flights and accommodation. Any tips on how to get this cost down? Wait for Virgin/BA sale? Or is this how much New York is now (yikes)

Not sure on timings and maybe feb is more expensive but I’ve just booked returns in July for two Adults and two kids for £1800 - so keep looking! (We have done hand luggage only for three of us and just one checked bag, makes a little bit of a difference)

How many nights?

I’d wait for the sale. Have you been in February before?

Ilovelemonandsugarpancakes · 21/03/2023 10:02

I've been twice in Feb before. Looking at Feb because it's much cheaper that Easter/Oct half terms. @SwedishEdith This is for 5 nights. @TheEverdelightfulsamantha Can I ask who you booked your trip with? Thank you!

Is it two rooms or will you all be in one room? I'm no expert but we went for 6 nights, Oct half term 8 years ago, 4 of us in one room, 2 x double beds and it was about £3.5. So your price sounds okay to me! But £1800 sounds a phenomenal bargain.

I only asked because of how cold it can be but if you’ve been in Feb before you’ll be well prepared 🥶

With accommodation?

OP I think your deal sounds pretty good! In contrast I paid £2500 for flights and accommodation for two adults, one room, in September.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 21/03/2023 20:59

I booked in January sale to go in October half term. Paid £3k for 5 nights hotel accommodation and flights including regional connection to London. That's for 2 adults and 2 children, both over 12 so essentially adults in term of pricing.

Effingmagicfairy · 21/03/2023 21:03

We paid £4500 in last Oct half term with Virgin, 6 nights. Whoever you book with don’t forget about Resort fees, Virgin included resort fees and internet in the hotel and we also got a $40 dollar voucher per room per day which we spent in the bar. Resort fees can be approx $35 dollars per day, so in total about $500 worth.

Effingmagicfairy · 21/03/2023 21:04

Should have said that was for a family of 4.

Ilovelemonandsugarpancakes · 22/03/2023 10:32

@SwedishEdith This is for one room don't think budget would stretch to 2 rooms

@WhoAmIWhoAmI24601 I know what you mean the last time I went in Feb we just managed to get the last flight out of London and people were offering $1000 for our seats! The snow was up to our knees and people were skiing at night through Time Square! Was baltic!

This seems a good price to me! We have paid £3k for 2 adults in October! We could've got a cheaper hotel but cheapest we saw was around £2.4k.
