what's cheaper in NY?

a friend is going to Ny for a month and has offered to get me anything eg coach/gucci handbag and/or girls clothes for my four year old dd. wonder if anyone can recommend what's good/cheap to get there? is it safe to assume designer stuff like coach and gucci will be cheaper? and stuff like burberry's and dkny? what girls clothes labels are good there?

I didn't find clothes etc cheaper, nt that I even looked at designer but general high street stuff. If anything they're more expensive. Probably because they're all imported and the market is pretty small.

You won't find Italian / French designer brands much cheaper. It's more the 'lower end' designer / high street American brands that are cheaper - Calvin Klein, DKNY, American Apparel, Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch etc. Cosmetics & toiletries are much cheaper. Sportswear & trainers are cheap. Victoria Secrets underwear much cheaper.
I've generally found that American brands are roughly the same price in dollars in the US as they are in pounds in the UK - so almost half price, then!

Really? I must have been looking in the wrong places. I only looked in Wellington perhaps that's why.

Tell your friend to go to Woodbury Common. Link above. It has a good selection of children's clothes shops but is excellent for shopping.
