What should we do or see in Rhodes?

We have a villa in Kalithea for 10 nights and will be hiring a car. Me, DH and DC 19 and 15. I've booked a boat trip that takes us to another island for the day but otherwise am hoping we can visit a few places in our own time. We will go to Rhodes Town, and Kalithea Springs looks nice - would be great if anyone can confirm that!
So where else should we go?! Thanks in advance 😊

Prasonisi at the bottom of the island where the Mediterranean meets the aegean sea, it's a lovely drive, massive beach, water sports, two lovely restaurants, one side of the beach the water is wild and the other side is calm, can't remember which is the med.
Lindos is great to visit, winding narrow streets, lovely restaurants, two beaches and also St Paul's bay.
Rhodes town is worth a visit and if you don't fancy the drive or are concerned about parking you can get the air conditioned bus.
Pop down to Lardos, just past Lindo, they have water sports and have a meal in Roulas, delicious.
I love Rhodes

We had a wonderful trip last spring. We stayed a week in Rhodes town which is amazing. You need to try and stay overnight as it gets heaving in the day. Then Linda's which also gets a bit crowded but is worth a day. Get there early if you want to walk up to the acropolis as quests can be grim. Avoid the donkey touts.

We also loved a trip over to Symi. Spectacular little island. Again worth an over nighter.

Rhodos Town and Lindos are lovely, we were there very early to avoid the crowds. Lindos - if you want to go up to the acropolis you need to be there before 9am otherwise you are stuck in queues going nowhere.

We did the butterfly valley, again be there early.

Great thank you!
@Hobbesmanc the boat trip we've booked is to Symi so am pleased its lovely.

Great tips re acropolis, we will get there early!

@Campervangirl St Paul's Bay has been recommended to us already so we'll certainly go there, and Prasonisi sounds fab. Do they have jet skis? DH and DS try to hire one wherever we go on holiday.

I don't think they do jet skis, it's more windsurfing, it's really windy there.
Lardos have jet skis

gogohmm · 18/03/2023 17:10

There's really good ruins, I spent a day there

boilingstormyseas · 18/03/2023 17:14

Hi, sorry to gatecrash this thread but I am also going to Rhodes in summer. Which company did you use to book to go to Symi?

Ifulikepinacoladas · 20/03/2023 13:31

@Evamaisie I used Viator and booked the fast boat trip to Symi, with a swimming stop at a bay. Maybe see you there 😄

OP posts:
Ifulikepinacoladas · 20/03/2023 13:32

I like Viator as we have reserved the trip but can cancel and don't pay til the day (or much nearer time).

Evamaisie · 20/03/2023 13:35

Thank you! We like Viator too for the same reason. Have a great trip

FadedRed · 20/03/2023 13:37

This place is worth a visit, very strange atmosphere, and the ‘Alpine-style’ hotel there is really incongruous too:

Popetthetreehugger · 20/03/2023 13:37

Another vote for viator ! Just adding Rhodes to my list 😎

wildlifeobserver1 · 20/03/2023 13:38

Lindos is great to visit.
Symi was lovely too as a trip!

keepingsanity · 20/03/2023 15:22

Koukos Rodos Restaurant in Rhodes is a lovely spot

Ifulikepinacoladas · 20/03/2023 16:07

@FadedRed that's very cool, am sure DH would want to visit there.

Lindos is definitely on our list - I dont think we're too far from it in Kalithea.

Whataretheodds · 20/03/2023 16:36

Anthony Quinn bay is nice - small.

Lindos acropolis you could also do in the evening just before it closes but beware of opening /closing times. You might want to double check.

Will you have a car?

frantic17 · 20/03/2023 16:43

St Paul's bay is really beautiful and lovely for a swim. If you're in Lindos for an evening then a rooftop table at Dionysis restaurant with a view of the Acropolis all lit up is quite spectacular!

JonesDrones · 20/03/2023 16:54

Kalithea Springs is lovely, it's been renovated and now has nice bars, etc. Lovely safe bay where the scuba diver trips go for their practice sessions.

aus12 · 21/03/2023 01:49

The water park is great fun for teenagers. I would pack water shoes though if you have them as the concrete walking around between slides burns your feet!

Ifulikepinacoladas · 21/03/2023 13:35

@Whataretheodds yes we will have a car.

Thanks everyone, we are taking all these recommendations on board. Can't wait.

Glad to hear Kalithea Springs is worth the visit, we are very close to it.

There were no butterflies in butterfly valley when we visited. They aren't there all year round so check it out before you add that trip in.
