Please….it states up to 10 weeks, I’m hoping not!

We just got our baby sons back in 3 weeks. I’ve heard they’re just about to go on strike though; apparently for 5 weeks!!

LeafHunter · 17/03/2023 10:03

ours took two weeks

Beebumble2 · 17/03/2023 10:31

We did ours on line at the beginning of March, they took 4 working days. We paid for next day delivery when sending back the old ones and express return of the new ones.
I would imagine there’d be a huge rush now that the strike has been announced.

Applied for a renewal online at beginning of February - received passport this Tuesday 14th March. So 6 weeks in all.
They keep you updated via email of each stage of the process from receiving the application- through to the printing of the passport. So you can keep track of the progress being made which is helpful.
After this mornings announcement of forthcoming strike action, I would apply as soon as you can.

just got mine back last week and it took 2 weeks

mazylou · 17/03/2023 10:45

Sent Tuesday of last week, received the renewed one Wednesday 15th.

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/03/2023 10:46

DH got his this morning, took a week and he got updates throughout. Really exceptional service.

ElfDragon · 17/03/2023 10:48

I did 3 at the beginning/mid February, and the longest one then took 3 weeks (including being ‘out for delivery’ for the best part of a week). The other two took 2 weeks (also with a longish delivery period)

have just done a 4th one, and documents were received on 28th Feb - just heard this morning it has been approved and is awaiting printing. So that’ll be a week or so to be done and delivered, probably, meaning it’ll have taken almost 4 weeks. Although there was a delay of a few days, as passport office decided they wanted identity verified, despite not asking for that initially.

Just heard on the news that staff are going on strike next month (I think it was next month) so it's about to take a whole lot longer!

CakeladyJ · 17/03/2023 17:54

I’m in the same boat!
sent mine off last week not realising the wait time is 10 weeks and we go away in 6.
Fingers crossed it doesn’t take that long!

elevenplusdilemma · 17/03/2023 19:36

We got ours about 4 weeks ago - all 3 came within a week from applying online (renewal).

Comedycook · 17/03/2023 19:41

Did my dc passport last month....took exactly two weeks

Abra1t · 17/03/2023 19:43

Two weeks. And that was over Christmas.

secretmumoffour · 17/03/2023 19:44

If your applying for an Irish passport from the UK like I am it would appear months! Given Royal Mail still have it in the local sorting centre!

MorganSeventh · 17/03/2023 19:44

Mine took a week for renewal earlier this month and the process was very straightforward. However, you do have to post the old passport to them, ideally tracked delivery, so you need to factor in a trip to the post office.

But yes, I would get them sent in ASAP because everyone will be doing it now.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 17/03/2023 19:56

I got mine back in under 2 weeks just recently but they've been saying to leave 10 weeks for ages, as in as far back as I remember ages, it is not exactly news.

Plus as others have said they are about to go on strike so if applying now I wouldn't expect to get it back any time soon.

DonnaDonna0 · 17/03/2023 20:06

My daughters child to adult passport took about 2 weeks last month.
