Passport Office Strikes

Just heard on the news that some passport offices will be striking for 5 weeks commencing beginning of April.

Just saw this on the Beeb news and came looking to see if there had been a thread.

Hope it doesn't cause too much heartbreak - last year it was bad enough, even without a strike. I'd advise anyone with travelling intentions this year - no matter how vague, to get their passports out and check expiry dates. Having been almost caught out myself last year I now have reminders in my calendar for 7 months before each passport expiry - even when they are years into the future! Many countries require 6 months validity left on a passport for entry.

BTW I am supportive of the staff striking, this is just a warning for people to check their own status and make accommodations for what can be a gruelling process in the best of times (I know there are plenty of stories of 'I got mine back in a week', but that cannot be relied upon).

I know! Top priority to get my application in tomorrow for hol in July.

Mine expires in September but I decided to renew it 2 weeks ago after last years fiasco. My new one arrived yesterday.

Definitely a good prompt for Peyton get them done now if they have summer holiday overseas travel plans.

I also have reminders in my calendar set years in advance. My passport expires in 2029!

I don't know who Peyton is but I meant "people to".

Generally speaking I would say never book anything until you have your passport renewed if you need it.
