I'm dreaming of a holiday to (maybe) Thailand in October. Me DH and DSs 12 and 14.
DH and went years ago as backpackers, but it's going to be quite a different experience with kids I'm sure! We stayed in basic beach huts and ate street food. It was bliss.

Can anybody recommend a nice resort / hotel that is safe and suitable for kids but not too posh so not too expensive? Ideally close to the beach and with a pool. We'd only have 2 weeks so I think we need to stay put in one place rather than travelling around.

Book your own flights, look sky scanner, then individual airlines

Book your own accommodation
Suggest a hotel with a pool, because it will be hot

If you eat where the locals eat, it will be much cheaper

We're taking the kids away to Thailand in the summer holidays. To get the best out of the weather we're staying in Bangkok then Hua Hin. We've booked flights from Manchester, a nice hotel in Bangkok with two bedrooms and then the Amari in Hua Hin.

We've booked an executive family room so we get access to loads of food and drink included to help save costs. We did think about going to Samui as the weather is okay there too but the flights would have added extra cost so decided against it. Hua Hin is a nice family resort.

The flights to Thailand are the biggest cost at present and both your children are now classed as adults for the purposes of flight pricing. You may also find that some hotels also class 12+ as an adult and so will only put you in two rooms which further increases costs.

I have found that actually booking a package with someone like Trailfinders is the same price or cheaper than booking individually and this is down to flight prices. The value is going to be in finding a great location with local restaurants within walking distance.

Tui has some good deals for October. 14 nights in a three / four star in Karon (Phuket) B&B for £5,500 for all of you. Just check the weather!!!!

Echo about checking the weather.

I think two weeks is plenty to travel around. If the weather is ok I’d do Bangkok, Chiangmai then fly to a beach place.

Koh samui is always expensive because only one airline flies there but you can get a ferry.

@Hopedun im off to Hua shin next month!
