New York - Daniela Trattoria on 8th near the Port Authority Station. We always go there. Last time we were in Vegas we ate in New York, New York Hotel and in San Francisco we liked the Cheesecake Factory.

Thank you, they sound interesting.
are they pricey?

You can get great clam chowder in lots of places by the piers in San Francisco. I don't know exactly what they are called but there are a fair few that do it (in a sourdough bowl). Not too pricey either.

Depending on your budget . Vegas you have to go to one of the casino hotels for a buffet. They are amazing. Crab legs, fillet steaks, so many luxury foods and dishes. Usually around $30 per person and well worth the money.

San Francisco I would recommend going down to the pier and trying the chowder that comes served in a sourdough loaf, or the Stinking Rose garlic restaurant.

For fast food, Green Burrito do amazing Mexican food, in and out burgers are pretty awesome too.

We found eating out in the US very expensive last time we were there (pre Covid). Even a quick fast food lunch was $100 for 4 of us more often than not. (Cheesecake factory is great but not cheap).
We stayed in Airbnbs so that we could make breakfast & a picnic lunch & cooked occasionally.

Adels famous street food
Los tacos no.1
Russ and Daughters

Vegas...

Black Tap in The Venetian. The shakes are amazing.

Heart Attack Grill for a different experience.

Dartmoorcheffy · 13/03/2023 17:25

The prices in the usa are not as cheap as they were pre covid but they are still good compared to the UK. And don't forget in many places portion sizes are huge but that's because it's standard in the states to ask for a take-out box and take home what you don't eat too.

Mirandawrongs · 13/03/2023 17:33

Thank you for that tip @Dartmoorcheffy x

Loeb Boathouse Central Park is amazing , the setting , the food , can't wait to go back

BarrelOfOtters · 13/03/2023 21:34

We’ve just come back from Florida. Price of food was shocking. Just a basic evening meal, nothing fancy, with a couple of beers was $100. With tax and tips. we bought stuff in supermarket a few times.

cheesecake factory in San Francisco is v good.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 13/03/2023 22:02

In San Francisco we went to a great but casual Chinese restaurant called The House of Nan King - I'd love to go back one day as the food was amazing. We also loved McCormick and Kuletos in Ghiradelli square overlooking the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. We tried the Stinking Rose but didn't really enjoy the food.

Lovely to wander through and there are eateries with outdoor tables at the back. www.ferrybuildingmarketplace.com/merchants/
The buffet at The Bellagio has great quality and choice. Lunch is cheaper.
