Looking to take my mum away for a surprise birthday break. We want to visit spinalonga.
looking for a hotel, preferably adults only. Price around £3000 for 2 of us for a week (flights and hotel)
Not bothered about which board but if it isn’t all inclusive, somewhere near to bars and restaurants. Never visited Crete so a bit unsure and would prefer to go on recommendations!

Minos Beach Art Hotels is just 10 mins walk from the bars and restaurants around Aghios Nikolaos marina. It has gorgeous views and an art gallery in the garden. It’s not adults only, but it’s not really the kind of place you would take kids as there’s no kids club, family rooms or splash pool. I don’t think it’s too far from Spinalonga either.

I've been to Rethymnon/platanias area couple of times, both are lovely, Rethymnon has more in the way of restaurants, the marina, beaches. platanias is just a few miles down the road with easy bus or taxi access into Rethymnon, it's quieter with lovely restaurants but less overall choice than the nearby city.

Elounda would be a good base for visiting Spinalonga. It’s centered around a pretty fishing harbour and is quite sophisticated and grown up. I can’t recommend particular hotels as I have only visited passing through, haven’t stayed there.

I love Elounda. Take a look at Akti Olous Hotel.. adults only.. just a few minutes walk to the ferry for Spinalonga 😊

Another vote for Rethymno and Minos Hotel. Stayed here last year, lovely stroll along the front to the old town stopping off for a cocktail along the way. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.
