British Airways Premium Economy? Worth it?

We are flying to Cancun this summer with BA. It's from Gatwick.
We got an offer to upgrade from economy to premium economy for £90 each.

Is that worth the money? We are on a bit of a budget having splurged for the hotel with a lay-z pool. Advice appreciated !

If you're tall (or taller than 5"10) I'd say go for it for the extra leg room and space.
Can't recall if there is extra baggage allowance but for £90 I'd snap their hand off for a long flight like that!

Cherry321 · 13/03/2023 09:58

Dont think you get much other than a bigger seat / more space.

Scribl · 13/03/2023 09:58

That's a bargain. Snap their hands off!

I really appreciated an upgrade on a similar flight to San Diego. Didn't have the option on the way home and really noticed a difference.

With premium economy you get to board earlier, the food, seats, legroom etc are all worth it in my book. I get twitchy legs, and that extra bit of wiggle room makes it bearable.

FlounderingFruitcake · 13/03/2023 10:04

For £90 I’d say hands down yes.

FanGurrl · 13/03/2023 10:56

For that price yes! Much more legroom and comfort.

DoorstoManual · 13/03/2023 10:58

Why are we even discussing this, Yes, yes and thrice again yes. Grin

wast542 · 13/03/2023 10:59

Definitely worth it

DoorstoManual · 13/03/2023 11:00

Wider seats and more legroom
A separate, smaller cabin
Two delicious meals and complimentary bar service including signature cocktails or mocktails
A personal entertainment system with noise-cancelling headphones
A stylish amenity kit made from recycled plastic bottles
More free baggage allowance
Priority boarding

What part of that is not to like ?

DoorstoManual · 13/03/2023 11:01

We always fly Club to Malaga, it is a little bit of theatre and it passes the time.

FanGurrl · 13/03/2023 12:36

@DoorstoManual I think you might be overselling it a tad Grin However, for that price it's definitely worth it for the extra legroom alone.

This is Premium Economy she has been offered, not Club!

HermioneWeasley · 13/03/2023 12:45

For £90, definitely

Overthebow · 13/03/2023 12:47

At £90 each yes. You get better food, drinks included, more room, only two in a row if you get the window seats.

Coffeepot72 · 13/03/2023 12:48

Go for it! We are currently on holiday in the far east, we flew BA premium economy, and the extra recline on the seats was enough to give me an ok-ish amount of sleep on an overnight flight. Plus the extra width, leg room, more luggage allowance and food/drink.

DoorstoManual · 13/03/2023 12:49

@FanGurrl Grin

Although it is a good bit of fun.

Schmutter · 13/03/2023 12:50

£90! That is an absolute bargain and I’d snap it up.

Virgin wanted about £500 each to upgrade to PE a couple of weeks ago.

grosslyunfair · 13/03/2023 12:52

Agree with others- for £90 it's a steal! BA have upped their game in premium economy recently and it's a big improvement for that length of flight. I did it recently on a 12 hr flight and was v glad I did. On long flights every inch of extra space and distance from random strangers is worth it!

thisplaceisweird · 13/03/2023 12:54

for that price YES

FlounderingFruitcake · 13/03/2023 12:56

@DoorstoManual is definitely overselling it! Everyone gets booze and a TV screen, it’s bog standard airline food, the second service is more of a snack than a meal and the amenity bag is basically sleep mask and mini toothbrush in a pouch.

Don’t expect the world but it’s a bigger, wider seat with more legroom and a very small cabin so should hopefully be quieter. If you’re travelling with your DH/DP then you can get a pair of seats together without the addition of a random stranger. £90 for that extra in flight comfort is a very good deal.

RedxRobin · 13/03/2023 13:14

Flew back premium economy long haul recently and definitely noticed the difference - more leg room, better food/snack than economy & better tv screen in a smaller cabin. It was much nicer than the economy trip out so for £90 I would definitely take the upgrade!

okayah · 13/03/2023 13:18

We are looking at Mexico in the summer also, can I ask where you are staying? Ta!

gogohmm · 13/03/2023 13:20

Yes! Much nicer so for under £100 go for it

gogohmm · 13/03/2023 13:20

Get double luggage too

HaggisBurger · 13/03/2023 13:21

God yes for that length of flight easily worth it
