Help - Canada visa if crossing rainbow bridge to Niagara Falls

has anyone been recently / advise on crossing over from USA to Canada (Rainbow Bridge, Niagara Falls). I don’t think we need a visa but not 100% sure.

UK residents, flying to NY, internal flight to Buffalo, crossing Rainbow bridge on foot to stay in Canada, fly home from Toronto.

looks like you definitely need an ESTA if going to Canada by plane but not on foot. Can any one confirm?

I’ve flown to Canada a few times - never needed any sort of visa though. I know you can’t go from Canada into USA without an ESTA because you do need one of you flew direct to USA, but don’t think you need one going the other way.

it says if you are a British citizen travelling into Canada by land or sea you don’t need a visa.

We flew into USA on Esta, drove over the bridge to Canada , passports checked and stamped , no visa , flew home from Canada no problem/ this was 2019

Sounds like a wonderful trip, all the amenities are on the Canadian side of the falls. Niagara region has great wine touring and interesting historical sites (plus an amazing ship canal) if you have time. The highway from Niagara to Toronto rates as one of the most terrifying drives of my life though, Ontarians drive fast and I was desperately trying to read the signs while keeping in the flow of traffic.
