Holiday in school time

We have just returned from a holiday. It was Monday to Friday. I sent a request to my children's school a month before explaining that our youngest has a seizure disorder so we found it easier for our child to travel during quieter times then in school holidays. On Friday it was a snow day so the children's school was shut. So technically the children missed four days from school. I've had no response from their school regarding the holiday taken it has just been marked as "unauthorised holiday" on the Monday to Friday. Do you think I will get a fine for taking them out? Obviously I will pay the fine if we do get one TIA x

I've taken my kids out of school every year (except 1 for dds year 10) for 15 years. I have once been fined because that year I took DD out and then her father did so it was 11 days.

I was told I'd be fined last year for taking DD out for 10 days. Fine never arrived.

I can't justify the price of holidays in the school holidays, I can't get any time off work in August and the height of summer is just too hot for little ones. I won't take them out in years 10 and will holiday after the GCSEs finish in their year 11 year.

I understand and respect that education is very important and think I would do the same as you and not take them out of school in the GCSE years. I'm really hoping to not get a fine as even though we had booked five days away they only missed the four days from school. Thank you for replying x

I've never had a fine and we had 2 holidays last year!

I'm booked for May this year and if I get a fine I don't mind tbh! It's a huge save for me.
