We went to Hook of Holland and down through Netherlands, Belgium then into Paris, then to the Loire. It was a good trip, very easy.

Tours is on the TGV line, but that station isn't in the centre of the city (there is a different one which is). Blois is on a slower line, but the station can be travelled from easily. There are lots of other smaller towns, which are nice to visit, also easily accessible by train: Amboise for instance. I know this bit of the Loire well as we had a holiday home there for 15 years. Happy to help with more specifics!

Yes, we spent a couple of nights in Paris first then got the train down and went cycling.

ill rhapsodise about the cycling so ignore this paragraph if you don’t fancy rpthat. There was only 2 of us and we did spell guided cycl8ng staying at little hotels…there were lots of families cycling all on off road routes and really well signposted. Lots of castles to visit.

we got the train back from Tours which was a fun young city.

book well in advance for the trains as they fill up in the sunmmer. It was cheap to travel by train. Man in seat 61 is a great website.

Yes, seat61.com is the website you need to use. French trains for the summer went on sale last Wednesday so there will still be some bargains to be had. But be warned that the Eurostar have been on sale for a while so you may need to be flexible with your dates to get a good price.
