Things to do in Lanzarote

We are staying in Playa Blanca. I'm keen to know which beaches are best, days out (with a 4 year old) and nice restaurants. Ideally tapas / authentic Spanish.

Are Puerto Del Carman / Costa Teguise worth visiting?

I may hire a car so distance might not to be too bit of a deal.

I stayed in puerto del carmen for a week and it was glorious! We took a bike ride along the coast and it was so lovely

We had an amazing Indian meal on the harbour.

Oh and definitely get those beach towel clips to stop your towel from blowing off your sunbed 😜

The Telamon shipwreck in Arrecife is pretty cool thing to see!

7 Sensi Pizzeria at the PB marina, maybe the best pizza I've had, we kept going back for it and their fantastic crispy veg Cuoppo Di Terra. Not especially a pizza person but this was on a new level!

Also the PB marina markets, Wednesday & Saturday morning, lots of stalls selling a wide variety of interesting things at good prices.

Getting crepes from the waffle stand in Costa Teguise is not to be missed! Lovely lady runs it

The Cactus Garden was lovely and there was a fab market

Also the caves

Agreed - we were surprised how much we loved the cactus garden. Plus you can share a cactus burger with your 4yr old! (Actually very tasty).

I would hire a car - there's so much to see off the beaten track.

I'm here now and went to Puerto Calero yesterday.

It was lovely.

Go to the small town of Teguise which is up in the mountains confusingly not in the resort of Costa Teguise! It's really lovely with small boutiques, tapas bars, old buildings & amazing views, on a Friday there's a Very busy market.

Strangely the market has always been on Sunday when I've been, perhaps there's a Friday market as well?

Is Timanfaya busy from early on? We were planning on being there first thing when it all opens, would there still be ques?

We love Lanzarote and spend a few weeks there every year. Lots of excellent recommendations so far.
Best restaurant in playa Blanca is Brisa marina…. Green and white with the parrots out front. We love a day on the beach in-front of it then up for an early dinner of paella and a bottle of Bermejo seco. The sand on the beach is nicer than the sand st playa flamingo or princess yaiza beaches.

There is a lovely wee harbour in Arrecife - lively Italian there called divina Italia…. Really reasonable and delicious food. Plus a really big new shopping mall in Arrecife too… it wasn’t open last time we went but friends highly recommend.

I would absolutely hire a car, there is loads to see… particularly in the North. Famara is my favourite place… the main beach can be a bit wild but there are life guards in some parts or there is a small beach in the village near the el disco restaurant mentioned up bread.::. We go jumping off the harbour wall there and then eat at Sol…. Another incredible restaurant.

In the north east there are some beautiful beaches near Orzola and we have recently started visiting the sea pools at Punta mujeres. There are lots of them, usually lots of locals but very welcoming.

We’ve been going for 40 years but still find new things to do. Worth following Lanzarote Information and Visit Lanzarote Facebook pages.

Yes you'll get straight in if you're there for opening. It's the size of te car park that's the limiting factor.

rookiemere · 25/03/2023 07:55

Please nobody go on the camel rides. I encouraged DS and his pal to go on one because we couldn't get into Timanfaya and I didn't want a wasted trip. But as we were waiting for them to go round, we saw how dreadfully the animals were treated, DS said the one in front of him had an open wound in its leg. I do wish we hadn't contributed to it.

If you want to hire a car, then best to book it now as it gets more expensive the later you book or you may not be able to get a car at all.

CameraCoffeeCrochet · 25/03/2023 10:33

A friend of mine runs a car hire company, called Omnicar, they are on Facebook and are great, there's nothing Fred doesn't know about Lanzarote either, she's lived there for years, so I'd highly recommend them.

whoruntheworldgirls · 25/03/2023 10:36

Thank you @rookiemere Smile
