Old Town Benidorm - is it still nice?

I went on holiday to Benidorm many many years ago and I loved it. We stayed in the Old Town and it was much quieter than the other end of Benidorm and had little shops and looked Spanish and quaint. Is it still like that? Has any one been? Am I mad for considering it?

The Poniente side of Benidorm is lovely. Like a totally different place. Lots of investment will only get better
I would also recommend Albir, Altea and Villajoyosa.
You are not mad ask the millions of Spanish who visit every year

I would also recommend Albir or Altea as a good option close to Benidorm.

Yes, still the same.

I love the old town. Traditional restaurants - Paniels is fantastic - and of course there are nice shops and beautiful beaches on your doorstep.

I love it there.

Benidorm is lovely if you stay away from the Levante side and the strip.
