Jet2 infant allowance

Has anyone flown Jet2 recently with an infant and did you get any luggage for the baby? I assumed they don't get anything except pushchair, car seat etc. but the chat bot this morning when I was double checking it said they have recently added 10kg hold luggage for infants, in addition to the pushchair allowance. But the customer service advisor that I spoke to later didn't seem to know about it. Now I'm confused what I'm allowed to take for him! We very helpfully fly tomorrow...

The chatbot is on about the limit of weight on baby items allowed in the hold. Your allowed 2 items cot/pushchair/carseat etc but each item shouldn't be more then 10kg.

You can pack a pushchair airline bag with additional "padding" up to 10kg total weight we do this with bulky things such as towels!

GinnyBee · 09/03/2023 14:52

No, the chat bot specifically said that the new 10kg baggage allowance is additional to the allowance on pushchairs etc.

Think you have had an error with the bot! If the customer services team had no idea and its not on their information online then you risk paying at the airport.

GinnyBee · 09/03/2023 16:00

Yeah I’m not going to risk it based on that, was just wondering if anyone had flown with them recently and had the new allowance included. Then I might if other people had experienced it!

You don't get anything but their luggage allowance is already very generous at 23kg opposed to 15kg with other airlines.

On all our Jet2.com flights, each passenger has a 10kg hand luggage allowance included as standard (excluding infants) and you can also bring a small, personal item onboard (such as a handbag or laptop bag) as long as it fits under the seat in front of you. Travelling with little ones in tow? You can bring along a collapsible pushchair, car seat and/or travel cot free of charge – up to a total weight of 10kg.

For anyone interested, this is what the chatbot said:

“JetBot
We’ve recently updated our baggage policy and are pleased to announce infants will now receive a 10kg baggage allowance for hold luggage. This allowance will be added to the accompanying adult’s 22kg hold luggage, at no additional cost.

JetBot
As well as this allowance, infants also have a 10kg allowance for collapsible pushchairs, travel cots, and car seats. When boarding, you can take your collapsible pushchair up to the plane steps, where we’ll put it away in the hold for you.“

So maybe it’s something they’re in the process of introducing but haven’t rolled it out fully yet?

This is what I was told too so I’ll be doing it in September. 22 kg for me, 10kg for him (in the same bag) and the pram which has to weigh no more then 10kg.

BarbaraofSeville · 18/08/2023 11:37

Are you going Jet2 or Jet2 holidays?

If it's the latter, you have quite a generous amount (small bag plus 10 kg cabin bag plus 22 kg hold bag) per person that you're unlikely to use all of, so you could just your basic allowance for the baby's clothes etc.

BarbaraofSeville · 18/08/2023 11:38

Ah!, just noticed it's a zombie and the OP posted months ago.

Clara1989 · 22/10/2023 22:13

What was the result? Also, keen to know if your pram is over 10kg, do they just deduct it off the 22 + 10kg allowance?

We ended up just taking one bag and not chancing it, so I don't know if they would've allowed it. But it's been months so if it was newly introduced I would expect it to be implemented by now and new bookings having better info!

From Jet 2

Travelling with an infant?
Although infants don’t have their own checked baggage allowance, if you have hold luggage on your booking, we’ll automatically increase your allowance by an extra 10kg per infant, free of charge. That gives you some more room for any extra items you want to check in for your infant. This additional allowance does not need to be pre-booked – our Red Team will add this on to your booking at check-in.
