Budget airline - how to know it's OK?

A friend booked a flight with Norse Atlantic.
She asked me whether I thought it would all be OK.
I said as long as it's IATA regulated it will be fine.
It is, but she is really upset that she didn't do more checks before booking and worried that the flights won't go ahead.
I feel terrible but don't know what to do to reassure her.

Can anyone advise how she can confirm it's definitely OK? Looking online, if when you search for your confirmation number into the airlines homepage it comes up with your flights then it's fine. I did this and it showed up, and I've sent her this.

Why would her flights not go ahead? If she made a booking and the booking exists on the system, then she has a booking.

No one here can assure anyone that a flight won't ever be cancelled for weather/technical issues etc, regardless of whether you book with a budget or non budget airline.

I think it was a case of not having heard of that airline before and worrying it was some sort of scam.
I've put the seed of worry in her head and I don't know how to fix it.

Just google it and show her the results. I did and it looks fine.

Why did you put a seed of doubt in her head? She's nothing to worry about

TheOrigRights · 07/03/2023 10:40

I did Google, and she can do that too.
I think this is actually more a relationship issue! Thanks for the responses.

A relationship issue?

Im confused as to why she’s worried and why you ‘feel terrible’ as it seemingly doesn’t have anything to do with you who she booked with.

Are you both big worriers about things?

If she is distrusting whether or not it's a real airline - it is likely that they run regular flights in particular dates / times so she could look at departures / arrivals board online at the airports she is flying between (although it may well be they don't fly in March).

There are no guarantees though even if you've used an airline before - we were affected by the collapse of both Monarch and Thomas Cook airlines. No problems at all with Air Scandig OTOH which we were quite doubtful of (pre internet days) .
