Amsterdam accommodation - family friendly, parking, 2-3 days over Easter

Hi

need help with accommodation recommendations please. All hotels etc city centre are £££. I know it’s a big ask but are there surrounding areas you could recommend where we could get a train, tram into the centre or even places you have stayed? It’s a very last minute holiday over Easter and would only be for 2-3 days.

many thanks

I stayed at the Zaan hotel Zaandam last year. The hotel was lovely, good modern facilities and a lovely open plan restaurant / bar. Breakfast was good. Zaandam station is a 5 minute walk away and on the direct line into the centre. Approx 15 minutes into centre but trains are very frequent. We got a three day travel card from the hotel reception and it was well used! You can get a direct train from Schiphol airport to Zaandam.

We just got an air b and b in one of the suburbs. It was a family home and they provided bikes which meant we could easily cycle in and get the free ferry to the town centre. It was a fun holiday!

I was shocked how expensive Amsterdam is. We are going May half term - family of 4. We ended up booking a room in a hostel Stayokay which was costly itself.
