First experience of flying Business Class and …

I just returned from a trip involving flights to LA and I flew there and back business class. It was my first time and it was amazing. My DH has flown Business Class many times with work and said one day we’d try it.
I have a flight next month to Singapore in economy and in a way wished I hadn’t tried it.

Sorry 2 companion vouchers! Not 4, that would be a lot.

*I flew both BA and AA Club last week and AA Flagship 1st and AA Flagship club (its not called that but not sure its name)

AA was much better than BA*

That's really good to hear, I think DH is stuck on the old AA of 10 years ago which he didn't enioy.

The last few times BA has been nothing to write home about but they were 2016 and 2018.

We have 4 companion vouchers and masses and masses of miles to use so we need to get something booked soon. There's often good availability to Boston so might go with that.

We've never flown Virgin, but might try them Glasgow to Florida for our next trip there. They seem to have a very solid reputation.

If you check on seat spy you can see all of the redemptions- if you pay a few £s for an account you get alerts

Boston has 1st redemptions most days and you can get JFK
They release club seats at either midnight or 1am (BST etc) roughly a year out
1st is really hard to get as they have removed it from many routes and cut the cabin size in the rest - Dallas Houston sometimes
Again headforpoints has lots of advice

Flew to new York for our 20th wedding anniversary last summer. Used Avios to upgrade to premium economy on the return flight.

Was chuffed to be upgraded at Heathrow from economy to Premium Economy on the way out.

Was absolutely stunned and thrilled to be upgraded at the check in desk to business on the return. The BC lounge at JFK was amazing. Had a fab dinner and got on the plane, flat bed and slept until breakfast.

Unlikely to happen again but it was really wonderful and a fantastic finish to a brilliant first trip to new York!

TrainTucker · 04/03/2023 21:15

New BA lounges at JFK since end of last year- they are a bit mehh (breaded catfish anyone-I thought not!) . Chelsea and Soho

BA WTP is a sweet spot- they oversell it and you often get upgraded to club as those planes have a lot of club and very little WTP

I flew to Boston with AA last week. 66 total on the plane- 22 in club and 44 in economy/PE. I imagine you got an whole row in economy.

You have to experience it rather than Google it.

We last flew Virgin PE just before the pandemic, perhaps things have changed since then - but in my experience it was just as good if not better than BA BC.

What a load of rubbish. You evidently haven’t flown BA business in long haul if you say this, there is no comparison at all between virgin PE and BA business. I’d even say these days that the refreshed BA PE is better than the Virgin PE.

My BA BC flight to LA last week was disappointing. Headphones didn't work (replaced) screen didn't work (reset) and seat didn't work - they only had a middle seat spare which I hate so they had to manually force into the bed position. Food was good though. Hopefully will be better on the way back. Heathrow north lounge was busy, dirty and food resembled a cheap cafe.

Food back from the USA is usually poor!

You are the one talking a load of rubbish. Evidently it isn't possible in your eyes for BA Business to be nothing less than perfect. I agree with @SecretPeston that Virgin PE is far better.

You are agreeing with yourself!

You cant name change on the same thread anymore !!!!

Cut and pasted for posterity as I sure that you will have had it dented by the morning!

You dont like to be wrong do you?

What's the point in cutting and pasting?

And what is "dented"?

Deleted not Dented.

The poster name changed and then agreed with their previous post that a number of people had said was wrong. So they pretended to be a different person agreeing with them. They were quite aggressive

They will get their post deleted . But I took a copy so that they cant deny it.

Find clothes that suit you and wear them until they wear out or no longer fit - that's the sensible way to go

Oh thank you thank you thank you. How EVER did I manage to manage my shopping and dress myself until you came along?? (the only thing I've bought in the last year is two sweaters and some underpants and socks. But cheers for the patronising little lecture).

I think she has been reading Viz’s Top Tips.

Did you know, you can also cut Brillo pads in half so you have twice as many? And if you only use the loo at work, not only will you save money on toilet paper, but you'll also be getting paid for it.

And if you don’t buy imported food or high carb food like, erm, olive oil, you lose so much weight over winter when all you have available to eat is turnips.

Ozcando · 05/03/2023 23:34

HNRTRT but I am most definitely flying business class via Singapore to NZ ! It is my trip of a lifetime and am going to be comfortable! Thank you NHS pension 😂

Why on earth would you take a copy of the post?

What makes you think the poster will get the post deleted? Confused

Haven't you got anything better to do than make yourself look like a smug twat?

Are you new to MN?

The poster has been rude to multiple posters on here
They have been caught out trying to lie.

Unfortunately the Spa and treatment rooms in Virgin clubhouse have gone ....you can now use a peloton bike instead 😭

I am fascinated how they are posting online on a device that has not been imported in any way.

No, I have been on here for ages.

Are you the MN police? Where exactly has the poster "been rude to multiple posters on here"?

I'm pretty sure no-one cares what the poster has done.

I thought the pool was now the left luggage store (but I haven't flown with Virgin from LHR for a while)

Virgin joined the sky team alliance last week- so I imagine that the LHR lounge will be crowded. It was bad enough with just Delta

Kisskiss · 05/03/2023 23:50

as Far as economy goes, Singapore airlines service, seat and entertainment are top notch. The extra legroom looks good too
unfortunately won’t be as good as their biz seat ( v comfy ride) but hopefully you will still enjoy it!
changi has an outdoor pool if you are too lazy to leave the airport ok your layover altho you can probably do a quick whistle stop tour woth cheap taxi

Delta were awful - avoid at all costs!

Singapore is the best in most classes
(some Emirates 1st is better but that a moral dilemma to fly with them)

bert3400 · 05/03/2023 23:56

@TrainTucker

Not sure about the pool or lack of it . Was there November and it was lovely but really didn't want to ride a peloton, especially as it's all on show 🫣 much rather have massage, agree that the clubhouse will be much busier since joining Star Alliance but surely priority to Virgin customers?

TrainTucker · 05/03/2023 23:56

Does the Virgin LHR lounge still have the shoe shine man?

I had a pair of navy leather flats in a slightly unusual shade that were only ever polished there.
