Barcelona hotel with teen daughter?

Taking 17 yo DD to Barcelona in June for 3 nights to celebrate her finishing her A levels: haven't had a Mum/ daughter trip since pre Covid and we're both really looking forward to it!

Just booked budget flights, yet to book accoms. We usually do Airbnb on holidays, but prefer a hotel for this trip since it's just the 2 of us and only a few nights.

Any recs of places/ best area to stay/ places to eat etc? She's an art student so some culture is a must (!) but other than that we'll just want some fun tapas, people watching, beach cocktails, wandering around and she'll be looking for vintage clothes and thrift markets! TIA.

We stayed in a studio called Citadines on Las Ramblas. Great location, reasonable accommodation and a good price.

I stayed in a small, but very central hotel called Chic and Lemon. It was pretty cheap and cheerful, but right by the bus stop for the aerobus and a 2 min walk from the top of the Ramblas.

My 19 yr old and her boyfriend stayed in Silver Aparthotel in Gracia and recommended that

I stayed at the Negresco Princess last year with my older teen. Very nice with a rooftop bar. Good location. Short walk to Placa Catalunya and walked to most attractions. Not cheap though.

we've stayed at the Novotel Barcelona. It has a lovely roof pool and bar and stunning views. 20 mins walk to Las Ramblas.

We stayed here Boutique H10 Moncada and the location was fabulous - rooftop bar small and friendly with super views .

We have stayed at Hilton diagonal mar, nice pool and near the beach but a tube to las ramblas, also stayed last year at hotel jazz which has a small pool and lovely bar area, very central. Also hôtel royal ramblas on l’as ramblas, central but no pool.

The kimpton is really lovely, in a great location and rooms are stunning. Can't recommend it enough!

Highly recommend H10 Casa Mimosa. I stayed with my mum and we loved it, huge room with views of la pedrera.

Wow these are great, thanks everyone! Since so many of you have been to Barcelona and loved it, I'd be grateful for your other recs: any particular restaurants or bars you loved? Beach tips? I'm thinking we'll get the airport shuttle bus to save €€, works well? Are most things walkable? Thanks again.

Do NOT stay on Las Ramblas! It’s like staying in Piccadilly Circus. It’s one of the worst parts of the city. You will want to walk down it once and not again.

If you want to be in the tourist centre, stay just off Passeig de Gracia and you’ll still be able to walk down to the Ramblas / Ciutat Vella but will be in a nicer area. It’s just the other side of Plaza Catalunya and feels like the Champs Elysee. The hotel suggestion on Diagonal is the one I’d choose from those given above. Lovely area, very posh and authentic!

For a day, you could walk from Passeig de Gracia, down the Ramblas (pop into Plaza Reial!) and past the port to Barceloneta. Enjoy the beach and then head back into central for dinner on the metro. You could spend the evening wandering the streets of El Born. Be sure to go onto the roof of the gothic cathedral! Also obviously Sagrada Familia needs to be seen. Around there (but not right outside) you will find more authentic local restaurants - it’s an area where lots of locals live.

If you want to go to a food market and actually buy stuff, go to the one by Hospital Clinic metro. You can walk there from Passeig de Gracia. This area and down to Universitat is also one of my favourites to wander around.

The airport shuttle is very easy and cheap - the train is easy and cheap too. You can walk everywhere that matters and it’s easy to jump on the metro.

Watch out for pickpockets! Enjoy!

Barcelona is so easy to get around. The aeroport bus is brilliant. Drops you off at placa Catalonia at the top of the ramblas. It's a wonderful city, it's actually really safe. crime is very rare but pickpockets are rife. So bum bags for money. And a neck chain for your phone's (trust me on this)

You can easily walk around Barcelona but the metro ticket is really worth having. You can use them on the buses too. A T- casual ticket covers you for ten journeys it's cheap and efficient.
If you are vegetarian I love the green spot lovely food. (I'm not but still go there ).
Couple of bars I love ;
The national. Very cool at night Lots of food courts inside and Bars. Cool

The dow Jones. , A real ale type pub but the prices change depending on the board changes prices like in wall street. It's fun

There is a fairy bar (bottom of the ramblas , next door to the wax museum down a little side street ) that's really quirky well worth a look

I stayed here with friends a few years ago, it was lovely and just a couple of metro stops from the centre. Loads of bars/restaurants/shops in the vicinity too.

https://www.casabatllo.es/en/ has some evening concerts and I think the surroundings would make it quite special. Unfortunately none on when we went in Novemberand it was freezing.
