Italian Resorts

Help would be appreciated!
Anyone recommend any nice resorts/areas/specific hotels in Italy? Don't have a specific location in mind - have considered flying into Florence or Pisa for 2-3 days then travel down to the coast to a nice beach resort, but open to other suggestions as really don't have a clue. Don't mind hiring a car, DH is used to driving in Europe.

Travelling with 2 kids - 9 and 12.

Haven't been a for a few years and it's on the other side of the country, but Riccione is/was a lovely seaside town on the Adriatic coast.

Alternatively, on the med side in Liguria, Diano Marina and San Bartolomeo al Mare were great when I went years ago.. much more south of France vibes than Riccione.

Tropea is much further south but also stunning.

I really want to go back to Italy now!
