How much should a week in the sun for five people cost?

I have no idea as never done a package holiday. What is a ballpark figure I should be expecting to pay for a week in the sun in school holidays (christmas) for two adults and three kids somewhere like the canaries. Nowhere flash but nowhere awful either - mid range hotel.

We're paying £2500 for 10 nights in a 2 bed self catering apartment this late August/early September.

3 adults & 1 child with a free child place. The apartment block has very good reviews. In Tenerife.

We've paid £3k for 2 adults and 1 child at Easter in Lanzarote

We are just over 2k for tenerife out of school term time for 2. So I am gonna guess about 8k.

Starts at around £750 excluding Christmas with TUI. Much cheaper out of Gatwick (discrimination!)
