Money/phone service in Thailand

I am going to Thailand with DC for a long multi stop break in the summer. Does anyone know what is the best way to access cash/what cards are most readily accepted? A lot of places are asking for cash payments and I am concerned about carrying it with me.

Does anyone have advice re phone use/data?

Is Uber a thing? My daughter has been reading and says there are better apps they use so I am unsure!

Thanks for any advice :) /Uber

Hi there just back from Thailand.
We used grab which was the equivalent of Uber but in all honesty the taxis were fine not much difference in price.
We really only used cash for tips .
Everywhere took credit cards we looked on money saving expert and got a chase card which worked really well there were loads of ATMs everywhere and it all felt very safe
Good luck have a lovely holiday

i'm delighted to bore someone with our holiday!! took so long to arrange!
we flew via Eva air ( ok but awful food) into bangkok we stayed three nights but TBH you only need one full day there. if you can book to eat at the blue elephant please do it was fantastic
we flew up to Chang mai - nice if you like temples not sure that young people would like it . if you would i'll give more details
Then we flew down to Krabi. the boat trips fantastic snorkelling was amazing again happy to give more details.
it was a wonderful trip . you'll have a great time

Grab is excellent for taxis.

Where are you flying into? All the major mobile phone companies have stands in the arrivals area at Bangkok airport where you can buy tourist SIM cards (including data). Take a spare unlocked phone handset with you if you want to keep your own phone number live too.

just to say that air asia was so easy to book and really reasonable prices but of course the flying still really sucks up a day of your holiday

We're flying into Bangkok and then to Chiang Mai for some trekking, then to Koh Toa for diving, then Krabi area - maybe Koh Lanta and Phi Phi Island to relax before home :)
So excited!

I’ve just started a thread about Thailand. What was the weather like this time of year @unclebuck as we’re thinking of going around November time.
