Disneyland Paris

Hi all, me and DP are taking DSS to Disneyland Paris for his 5th birthday this year and I have a few questions

  • We’re doing eurotinnel from Folkestone - is it a relatively easy drive go Disneyland? Looks like it takes about 3.5 hours from Calais
  • Is breakfast with the characters worth the extra cost? We want to do it as a treat for him on his actual birthday
  • Any hotel recommendations? My DSS is Lightening McQueen obsessed so we’re thinking Hotel Santa Fe
  • We’re thinking half board with doing breakfast and dinner everyday - is it worth it?

Thanks so much!

Hi we visit 2x a year and always drive. It usually takes us just over 3 hours to get there off the euro tunnel. Parking is ample so you won't have any issues with parking.
Santa Fe is a little outdated but worth it if your son likes cars.
We are going next month with our daughter who will be turning 4 while we are there. We have booked the dinner with mikey and friends and are paying extra for them to bring a cake out for her. We haven't done the breakfast.
We always sort our own food, if you use their dining plan you are limited on where you can eat whereas we prefer to sort ourselves out. There is a sandwich shop on Main Street that do cheese toastiest as big as your head! Absolutely lush! They also have all the restaurants between the parks and hotels and we visit a different one each day. Food is expensive but more choice than their meal plans allow.

Dinner with the characters is better if you’re looking for the more well-known ones (Mickey, Minnie etc)

We preferred the character breakfast to dinner. Dinner food wasn’t our thing and we loved the breakfast characters.

personally I prefer sequoia lodge as it’s a quicker walk.

I also wouldn’t get a dining plan. I find it works out much cheaper to sort your own meals. Especially as mine prefer to get McDonald’s! We also just went to Starbucks for breakfast.

We stayed at Newport bay. Highly recommend. It was beautiful!
We didn't bother with dining plan as we didn't want to spend loads of time eating instead of in the parks and I feel like you have to to get your moneys worth.
We didn't spend anywhere close to the cost of the dining plan on our food and treats and souvenirs etc

We went by Eurostar and stayed in the DL Hotel, so can't answer your other questions, but we did the character breakfast at Plaza Gardens and it was great, we got loads of photos and DD loved it.

We didn't get any meal plans, as we wanted freedom to eat when and where we wanted, and not spend loads of time sat down eating and that worked for us. A meal plan would have cost us a lot more than we spent on food.

We ate at the Lucky Nugget twice, Caseys Corner, had one character breakfast and one Princess dining, one room service, and had crepes by the balloon one night.

For breakfast each day, we bought 2 x 8e breakfast which was coffee, juice and pastries, to share between 3 of us, and bought 1 extra pastry. It was the cheapest way of doing it when we went in 2019.

We also took snack packs with us from home for mid day, and usually found somewhere to sit and eat them, and just bought coffee and cold drinks and ice cream when we wanted them.

We went for the "trip of a lifetime" and have been saving like mad ever since to go back and do it all over again Grin

Hi, we've been 3 times with (DS18mths, then DS24mths, then DS4 and DD15mths). Kids are now 5 and 2 and we've bought Annual Passes and have 3 trips booked this year and another in Easter next year.

Driving is really easy, the drive from the Tunnel is so straightforward and easy. Very relaxed 3hrs.

Character Breakfast is awesome!! Worth every penny and we loved the characters. (Tigger, Rabbit, Hook, Smee, Pinocchio and Gepetto)

Yes there are some hotels that are a bit fancier than others but for a child who loves Cars?? Absolutely Santa Fe 100%, they'll be blown away.

Meal Plan - only worth it if you'd be eating at those places anyway. We take cereal bars and snacks for breakfast. Not worth it for us with small children.
