Should we spend our avios and companion voucher?

Have a companion voucher which is going to expire at the end of August. Had always intended on using it go business long haul but covid got in the way.

We have a new style companion voucher too, which we want to use next year to fly long haul.

We have enough points to fly economy out and business back to caribbean this summer.

BA massively devalued avios over christmas, so scared we will save and save and then just they be useless

You should definitely use it before it expires, no matter what you use it on.

We used a companion voucher on economy flights (long haul) this year just to use it before expiry. Going forward we’ll definitely be using companion vouchers on long haul business class (or first class), as that’s where you get the most value.

Guess it depends how quickly you accumulate avios. If using this summer will prevent you travelling long haul next year and using the new voucher; is it worth it? Otherwise of course you should use it.

Companion voucher is better for long haul business.
but you have to be Avios rich.
we will probably use it for long haul economy.
for example 120,000 Avios + £300 for family of 3 return in economy to Dubai.
instead of roughly £2,000.

this way we can go on one long haul holiday every year (Easter or October).
we couldn’t do business simply as we wouldn’t have enough Avios, we would be able to accumulate enough Avios.
