Where to go in Brittany???

Please help!

After mainly doing UK camping holidays with the odd week in Ibiza over the years, we've decided we want to go to France this year and, as a treat, we want to stay in an actual building!

We're in Yorkshire and my DH doesn't drive so don't want to go too far south so am thinking probably Brittany then we could maybe get the ferry to St Malo (although hideously expensive) and it's not too far to drive.

I'm just finding myself paralysed by choice. There will be me and DH plus two teens but we are pretty low maintenance, need to be near the beach with a bit of sightseeing opportunity but nothing more exciting than that Grin.

So where's fab? Please give me some recommendations!

We go to the very South to the Guerande area, actually technically across the border into Loire Atlantique but culturally it is still very Breton. There are good beaches there and you are an hour or so from Nantes which is interesting to visit. Also St Nazaire where they still build cruise ships which has some interesting museums etc. Brittany in general has a lot of high-ropes type places and there are watersports you can do at the beaches. It's about 2.5 hours drive from St Malo.

Or there is the Carnac area which has the standing stones and some good beaches. Or Quiberon peninsula.

Be warned, if you are going in the summer holidays and haven't already booked, the St Malo crossing gets booked up very quickly for weekends, especially if you want a cabin (which I would recommend).

Thanks @Forever42 I am hoping to get booked v soon. Just need to work out where we're going! I have been to Carnac once before many years ago and remember the beach and the stones. It's top of my maybe list at the moment.

I spent 6 weeks in Brittany in autumn 2022. Loved Concarneau and Douarnez. Cancale was lovely as well
