How easy or difficult would it be to do a week pool holiday with only hand luggage? 2 adults, child and toddler?

I'd do it if the hotel had laundry facilities

This is very do-able. I brought this last year for us. 2 adults, 5 year old and 15 month old. 1/2 sets of swim wear each as they dry over night, 3 days worth of clothes and do a wash mid week.

I've done it on 5kg limit hand luggage. Although it was tight.

I ordered/bought all toiletries/nappies/kids activity books at the airport - and wore a jacket with lots of pockets!

So it's doable but more hassle than I can be bothered with these days!

We only take hand luggage whenever we go away for a week or less, it doesn't really matter how many of you there are as you can all get a bag. I take enough underwear for the week, enough socks for the week and then 4 t-shirts, a skirt, thin trousers and a couple pairs of shorts and a cardi for the evening, swimming costume and flip flops. I don't bother washing anything though, just have a good deodorant and double up. You have to remember though to put sun cream etc into small bottles so that you can take them through, that's the biggest pain with it .

Depends what you mean by 'hand luggage'. With Easyjet, Ryanair and Tui, the small included bag is very small.

But with Jet2 and probably the likes of BA, you'll get a large handbag/rucksack and a decent sized trolley case included with the ticket price so much easier.

However, liquids is the big limiting factor. If there's a Boots at the airport, you can buy your suncream etc there, because you should be using quite a lot during a week's beach holiday for a family of 4. It's usually very expensive abroad, so best to take it with you.

The above is all based on you wearing outfits more than once, and not wanting loads of fancy products, straighteners, multiple daily outfit changes etc.

Sometimes paying for one hold case between the whole family means you can take a lot of things with you and it's much easier.

Easy! I’ve done it with three kids - they only liked the same shorts and T-shirt’s anyway. Dress and amateur shorts for evening and they were all happy.
