We're staying in Innsbruck for 2 nights on our Interrailing trip in early April- me and DC aged 7 and 13, but will only have one full day to spend. I think the big attraction of Innsbruck for us will be the mountains, and I'm guessing that up high there'll almost definitely be snow!
Problem is, how do we GET there in such a short time window- and on a limited budget too! The obvious excursion is the Nordketten (sp?) cable cars, but it would be about £80 for the three of us!!
Anyone know what it's like up at Hungerburg, at the top of the funicular? Or Fulpmes, if we took the tram?? The Stubai Glacier looks interesting, but I can't seem to find clear information on how to get there from Innsbruck, how long it takes, whether we could just have a wander and look at the glacier (and how stupid we'd look dressed in slightly inadequate street clothing surrounded by a load of skiers!)
