In may. Budget up to £4k for the week - any ideas?

We stayed in the esplanade in Newquay. It's a lovely spot with a gorgeous beach and there's a soft play in the dining area. Plus the adults only sister hotel down the road has an amazing spa. They also had beach kit to borrow. Just a really refreshing low key week.

Ikos or Sani during term time might just be in budget.

Eurocamp style holidays - lots of space inside and out. You can sit outside and enjoy a wine while kids are sleeping!

The Netherlands. We stayed in a holiday home, hired bikes with seats on the back and saddlebags. Went cycling everyday and ate out, the cafe culture is great and the Dutch love kids. Everything is child friendly, from tiny sinks in bathrooms to playground everywhere. The food is good too, and the beer. The coastal areas were beautiful, long sandy beaches stretching out as far as you could see. And the towns are beautiful.

Thornbery castle near Bristol is fabulous, and we stayed in a sister hotel further north which was amazing with small kids

Majorca and Menorca, CenterParcs, Disneyland Paris - all amazing and enjoyed by our 2 small children.
Holland is lovely, go to Efteling.

We're in Portugal (Algarve) for the second year running as it's really child friendly. High chairs and changing tables at most places. Cheap to eat and drink and lovely weather!

We did Salou in April last year with a 1yo and 3yo. It was fantastic. Miles of sandy beaches, literally hundreds of play parks along the seafront, locals very welcoming of children, a Lidl and a big Spanish supermarket not too far out of town (we had a rental car as we drove from Barcelona), and fantastic mountains/lakes/scenery not far away for day trips. We stayed in an apartment (AirBnB type thing but it might have been through booking.com?) opposite the beach. It was a really relaxing, fun holiday.

Not the answer your looking for (and way under your budget) BUT the honest answer is Butlins 🤷 or center parcs

I used to be fairly snobby about Butlins in particular but there are numerous activities going on no matter the time of day (fit around nap schedules etc) that you can just turn up to, its by the beach, unlimited swimming access. Definitely if you asked my DC what their favourite holiday was they would say Butlins (they do love centre parcs too )

Lopesan Baobab hotel in Gran Canaria full board! Amazing for kids but luxurious for adults. Amazing food and ten mins walk to the beach

minipie · 15/02/2023 19:34

Mousses here too

Also Caserio del Mirador (tho we only had one baby) and Baobab Suites in Tenerife

Our DC didn’t sleep for years so anything with a bit of childcare for little ones or that made life easy was soo welcome!

Eurocamp style camping holidays in France (easier with a baby as took car) and Italy (flew but kids were a wee bit older - 5 and 6 first time round). Dd first went to France at 3 months old and it was so easy and relaxing! Kids had own bedrooms in mobile home/lodge so we could sit outside the mobile home in the evening and have some wine with other parents while kids slept safely. Had more space and loads of outdoor space to play. Best thing was the baby bath as they played in it and with it lots! 😂
Great pools, beach etc and usually have a mini disco for toddler and a restaurant.

An all inclusive family hotel right on the beach will make your life very easy with a baby and toddler. Spain or the Balearics being only a 2 hour flight will mean it won't mean a whole day travelling. We absolutely love Menorca.

In the UK, a good shout is the New Forest and a day out (or two day pass) to Peppa Pig World / Paultons Park (I think it's such a clean theme park) and very very toddler friendly with plenty of baby facilities.

Also Center Parcs now before they are of school age so you can take advantage of not having to pay school holiday prices.

Isle of Wight and Norfolk too.
