Croatia or Montenegro

Hi!!
We adore Croatia, and I'm tempted to book again for this summer. However, I've been told Montenegro is just as beautiful.

I'm keen to explore somewhere else, but would like to hear some trusted opinions.

We are a couple, with teenage children. A good beach is a must.

We loved Montenegro but the day we visited the main beach resort rather than around the lake bathing platforms was the most disappointing part of the trip. We may have just gone to the rubbish part of Budva though.

I also love Croatia but we also had a couple of wonderful holidays in Slovenia

Croatia is just marvellous- we had a couple of weeks there a few years ago. We had a day in Montenegro and it was nice but felt smaller, which it obviously is. The water is stunning in either place so you'll have a lovely time either way.

You could do both? A few years ago we did Dubrovnik, then hired a car and drove to Kotor and then Budva.

Thank you! The possibility of doing both is appealing. I've been to Split and a few islands in Croatia, but pairing Dubrovnik with Montenegro sounds like a good idea.

We thought about doing this in 2020 but then covid made it impossible. Would like to try it next year, how long did you do in each place?

We did about 3 days in each place but I probably could have done with one more day in Dubrovnik and one less in Kotor

We have done both, but I also recommend Slovenia. Montenegro is beautiful but Budva is really touristy, I wouldn't recommend it there!
