Daughter - Eye infection

Hello,

My 15 year old daughter is due to go Iceland in the morning with her school. Her eye has swollen up (possibly conjunctivitis), it’s very painful and is probably going to be worse when she wakes up. Would you recommend going to A&E tonight, or just let it heal naturally? I feel awful for her, she’s been looking forward to this trip for so long

Ohhhh I had swelling on my eyelid like this for a week recently and I couldn't work it where it was swelling from then suddenly a humongous sty inside the lid with a big head was there one day when I lifted it up. It all came out and the relief was instant. Filled back up over 2/3 days and left a saggy eyelid for a couple of weeks

I was in a lot of pain and probably should have seen the gp when it was at it's worst but honestly it was still treatable at home with warm bathing

She needs seeing to rule out Peri-orbital cellulitis. Doesn't look like conjunctivitis to me.

Here she is with her eye open this morning. We have some eye drops for her to try

I know eye makeup will be the last thing she’s thinking about at the moment, but I would throw away anything she’s used recently, to prevent reinfection (voice of sad experience here!)

Thank you everyone, she has safely arrived in Iceland. Her eye is still swollen and sore, but she has some eye drops and will hopefully have a lovely time :)

That doesn't looks like conjunctivitis to me, it's not weeping and stuck together, and I don't that mech swelling is usual.

Really hope it settles down and she has a great time. And if she does need any medical attention she’s somewhere with good facilities. Hopefully she won’t need it 🤞🏼.

It looks like a reaction, maybe try an anti histamine. Has she dyed her hair or had any eyelash treatments?
