Child free 3 nights - where?!

Hi all
My husband and I have the chance to go away on holiday for 3 nights in May without our children. I originally wanted to go to New York but my husband is slightly reluctant and thinks it's not long enough. I think any time there is amazing! We have been but years ago and I loved it although we went in Winter. Does anyone have any other suggestions of great places we could go? Ideally we don't want to go somewhere that is really child friendly as all our other trips will be with the children and we want to make the most of this adults only trip 😅
We have ruled out Paris, Amsterdam, anywhere in the UK, Dubai (as it is Ramadan), Portugal, Spain, Greece.

Thank you!

Reykjavik? You can go to the blue lagoon and enjoy all the amazing restaurants/bars Iceland has to offer! It's truly one of a kind, and three days is about right, I'd say.

For three nights an hour or so is probably all I would do flying, maybe 2 hours on the train, each way

@muddlingthrou thank you, we have done this pre kids actually and yes it was incredible! Sorry I should have said that!

Depends on what you want out of the trip. A big city with swanky bars and restaurants and light life? Then New York could be indeed memorable, although you may be knackered and jet lagged on your first day there, but then you have two more. South of France? Lake Como? Tuscany? Switzerland? If you want to go for nature, outdoor activities and nice hotels etc then you have lots of choices in Europe.

A city break in Europe. The choice is endless. Have a look through Travel Man on All 4 for ideas.

I'd say either San Sebastian and Bilbao, Barcelona, Lisbon or one or more of Seville, Malaga, Granada and Cordoba, but see you don't want to go to Spain or Portugal. Or there's Berlin, that would be great.

Italy. I'd fly to Naples have a night there and then hop on the train down to Sorrento.

Did the same a couple of years ago and it was amazing! Short flight, great food, amazing scenery, limoncello...

Italian Lakes - Como or Maggiore. Short flight to Milan. Stunning scenery and lovely food. May would be gorgeous. Boat trips, islands, villas, botanical gardens. Boring for children but beautiful. www.hlapalma.it/en/sky-bar/ I am always recommending this place - it's fabulous. The lake pool should also be open by May. Easy transfer from Malpensa.

@BarbaraofSeville we have got Barcelona on our list so will take a look! Thank you! We have done Berlin and loved it!

@honeypancake New York is calling me...

@HeyBearILoveYou we've also done Sorrento but Italy is a great idea!

@MissAmbrosia oh I will definitely be looking into this tonight, hadn't even considered the Lakes! Thank you!

Would pick Budapest or Krakow as they're top of my list at the min! We did prague last year for 3 days which was fun and lots to see.

WingBingo · 09/02/2023 17:59

If you love food , San Sebastion would be my choice.

it’s amazing.

Turin would be lovely i think-we had it booked but covid cancelled it so never made it yet. Or Venice-I love it there. Or Stockholm/Copenhagen maybe? Or Bordeaux is lovely too. I’d say maybe look at what days flights go to and see where you can make the most of your 3 nights. If the outbound flight is late and the inbound is early you might want to rule it out. Although if you’re near london that’s maybe not an issue cos will have loads of choice!

mrshadders · 15/02/2023 10:02

Thank you everyone - we have decided on Barcelona! Very excited now!
