Bristol airport

Anyone flown from Bristol airport recently please - just wondering how the queues for security were? I heard it was pretty bad even as late as last Oct half term with lots of people missing flights. I can't find a queue-times tracker like other airport have and just debating if the fast track security pass thing would be money well spent (travelling next week in half term). TIA

Early morning flight about 3 weeks ago, we did twilight check in and they still recommended getting there 2 hours before. We flew through security, but we’re aided by having a little one and being directed to a family friendly trial lane where we didn’t have to take liquids etc out of bags. We were sat in Starbucks by 0430, having got off the shuttle bus around 0400.

Coming back was a different matter, waited over an hour for our bags.

Fly monthly from Bristol. Depends on the day and time. Generally speedy even at its busiest only 4mins. Make sure you have all your liquids electronics etc to hand. Or pay for speedy security

Went just after new year for a lunchtime flight and was absolutely fine. Through security in about 10 minutes.

Thank you for responding @swimymummy , @Wishiwasatailor & @massistar - that's really helpful. We fly mid-afternoon on the Monday so hoping the bigger half term rush will have been at the weekend. Sounds like it's back to normal levels with a bit of queuing but not too horrific....

Think I will take my chances and save the £24 it would have cost on fast-track security passes for the 4 of us to spend on overpriced food and drink as we are going to allow so much extra time we will be there a while in departures!😂

We went to Heathrow in the summer and I'd read so many horror stories. We got there and sailed through in 10 minutes and had 3 hours in Departures. My family were cursing me! 😀

It's mad though isn't it @massistar ? It's very inconsistent. We went from T4 Heathrow in August last year and I allowed over 3.5 hours too but the only reason we didn't miss the plane was that so many of us got stuck in security, they decided to delay the flight - it was awful - people crying in the queue or getting really angry etc. Not a great start to a holiday that had already been delayed 3 times. At least after standing in a queue for nearly 4 hours we were happy to sit down for the next 14....(and I didn't waste any money on the aforementioned expensive departure lounge catering options!) 😂

We flew last week - Saturday lunchtime. No-one at security at all - we sailed through. The departures area has improved a lot since we last flew too, so there was a decent amount of choice of places to get something to eat.

Coming back, passport control was super quick, but waited an hour for luggage...

Thanks @ReviewingTheSituation - sorry to hear your luggage delayed you on the way back but good news about the security queues and also the improved departures area. It's our nearest airport so would always prefer to fly from Bristol but last time we went from there was pre-pandemic and it always felt a bit chaotic and "tired" once you passed passport control
