Birth certificate for holiday

Me and partner are going away tomorrow with our 6 month old son. My son has the same name as his dad however we are not married so my surname is different. Will this be an issue at the airport and will I need to show birth certificate or will this be okay seeing as my partner is with us. Birth certificate still hasn’t come back from the passport office!! Anyone with experience on this please. Friends have said this hasn’t been an issue but I guess you never know if they were just lucky! X

Surely it all works on passports?

You'll be absolutely fine, dad and son have the same name.

When I was a single parent for 6 years I used to take my daughter away on my own (different surnames) and because her lazy dad kept saying he would 'get around' to putting his name on the birth cert I only had the short one that didn't name me. I got stopped a few times and they asked her who I was but that was the extend of it.

It’s fine especially if dad is there too. Not sure why you think it wouldn’t be.
occasionally mums with kids with different surnames can be asked lots of question and is useful to have a letter from the dad if he is not present. But mums I know have travelled alone with kids with different surnames with no issues.

I've never berm questioned when travelling with DH, but I have been questioned when travelling without him. I share a surname with the kids (and DH).

No if it’s one parent is travelling alone with the child.
