Interesting place to stay in summer near Paris

Looking for an area to stay less than 2 hours by train from Paris - we won’t have a car. Maybe with a lake or river where we could swim and just chill out but enjoy small town life.

I have no idea sorry - but would love to know myself as I'm hoping to arrange a trip covering Paris, Disney, plus a few days in more chilled-out place.

Pays de Fontainebleu is lovely. There’s so much more to see and do than just the palace. Everything you need to know (including accommodation) is here www.fontainebleau-tourisme.com/en/welcome/

How about Camping Huttopia Rambouillet? There’s a lake and lots of forest. Rambouillet is a small town with an old royal palace and it’s on a train line to Versailles and Paris.

There’s a beach next to a lake in the forest near Rambouillet called Étangs de Hollande - I don’t know if there’s a bus service to it.

With the TGV almost everywhere is 2-3hrs from Paris. Montpellier is about 3, Vannes is lovely and 2hrs, Le Havre isn't so nice but has nice beaches, Saint Malo is probably under 3.

Thanks all, some great ideas there.
