Chania Crete

I am looking to visit Crete at the end of August and the only accommodation I can find which ticks most of the boxes is in Chania. I would have probably preferred the Eastern side as we have chosen Crete in part for the classical history for my eldest daughter so Knossos, Cave of Zeuss.. Does anyone know if its easy to organise excursions there from Chania? I will be with my 2 children aged 11 and 14. Thank you.

Hi, I'm sure you will have googled this but the distance to the Cave from Chania is 200km, a three hour drive. I can't find if there are any excursions to it. We love exploring Greek islands and always hire a car to this end. I'm a fiend for Stones & Bones myself so caves and graves are places I do like to visit, unfortunately I have never actually seen anything arranged to these kind of places. You might be in with a chance as there are agents who you can book excursions with, you might be lucky. Sorry I can't be more positive 🙁

From Chania there is a waterpark, Balo lagoon, Kourna lake, many beaches, the village of Loutro, the pink sand beach of Elafonisi, day cruises by boat, horse riding, museums. I hope you find something that suits you all, wherever you book.
