Hi all, we are struggling to decide a location for our holiday this year, 2 adults and a 2 year old.
We have an idea of what we want, but are not finding exactly what we are looking for.
Last year we went to Martinhal Sagres. While that was brilliant, we would have preferred a little more to do nearer the resort.
We would love to do Italy and explore the Amalfi coast but we understand that it’s likely not suitable for a toddler.

What we want is

  • Self catering 2 bed lodge/ apartment
  • May, so before high season
  • sunshine
  • pool, fun family stuff to do with a 2 year old
  • places to potter about with a mix of culture, eating and some shops to explore.

This rules out Sani for us as it doesn’t have anywhere nearby to go to, it seems.

Any advice or recommendations welcome.

On reading your headline I was going to say Martinhal! I’ve been to Cascais and the one in Lisbon.

www.delphinahotels.co.uk/sardinia/hotels/caladifalco/ Sardinia. We went to Cala di Falco when dd was 18 months old and stayed in the Residence. You could do pure self catering or book for food options/b&b/half board etc. The beach is across the road. The town is 5 mins with a selection of shops and restaurants. They organised excursions (to Corsica and the Maddalena Islands etc) but we also hired a car for a few days whilst there to visit other local beaches on the Costa Smeralda. Its stunningly beautiful.

Antibes/Juan Les Pins was another we did with a toddler. The beach at JLP is fabulous. Easy to get up and down the coast - Nice has lots of museums. Antibes is very pretty. We rented a fab apartment (I can no longer find) but try Booking.com and avoid the Cannes Film Festival.

Lake Garda would work OP. Lots of pretty little towns around the lake, ferries to get about, plenty of places to eat and some cultural attractions and much easier to navigate with a toddler than the Amalfi coast.

Oh thank you, this is helpful. I will take a look at these.

holidays are not the same with a toddler anymore 😂
