Italy road trip in October? (Weather!)

I'm pricing up a brief road trip of Italy for October half term. Thinking of something like Rome, Naples and Sorrento (couple of nights in each, whistle stop tour through, we've done something similar in the north so we are used to the pace!) just curious if October is a sensible month for this? Appreciate it won't be proper warm, but will the weather still be pleasant? Thinking it would be better to avoid summer holidays.

I had two weeks in Rome and on to Assisi (further north) in October and it was warm and dry. I think I might have put on a light cotton cardigan one evening.

October is a lovely time to visit. You could be lucky enough to swim in October for sure, but if not it should be pleasant.

We were in Liguria last year at end of September and it was glorious. The beaches all shut up shop on 1st October but it was still warm enough to go in the sea. We did Rome Autumn half term a few years back and it was lovely during the day - lunch on terraces etc, but it got a bit cooler in the evening.

When you say "road trip" I wouldn't personally take a car to any of those places though 😱By train it would be lovely.
