Me and DH are celebrating the big 25 in November. We have childcare, we have a healthy budget (20k+) but we need inspiration. We have been to The Maldives, Mauritius, Barbados, and Costa Rica. Needs to be long haul due to time of year and something a little different - Borneo & Bali is off the list as promised the kids we will take them. Anything jump out that would be WOW . Thank you

How long for ?

tanstaafl · 28/01/2023 10:08

visit a travel agent?

jellybeanteaparty · 28/01/2023 10:21

Return to your favourite but to a different area/or with a bigger budget if say the Maldives was your original honeymoon destination? If you enjoyed those countries Mexico springs to mind or something very different like a train trip across India, USA road trip or African safari (Tanzania safari and Zanzibar beach break)?

KangarooKenny · 28/01/2023 10:22

I’d do a Caribbean cruise

XelaM · 28/01/2023 11:05

Australia/ NZ

Japan

USA - we did a few days in NYC and then rented a car and drove to Santa Barbara stopping in places like Boston, Niagara Falls, Rushmore, Grand Canyon, Vegas etc. It was an unforgettable holiday.

@tanstaafl sorry, yes that's a bit of a factor ...min 10 nights - max 2 weeks

@jellybeanteaparty Train journey is definitely a thought, love the idea of a luxury train - journey. Will look into train /safari . Thanks 👍

@KangarooKenny tried one a few years ago, really struggled with it, but it was on a Mega cruise ...I have looked at the Virgin Cruises which do appeal a bit more . Definitely want a child free holiday ☺️

@XelaM definitely AU's/NZ on the bucket list but 2 weeks wouldn't be enough time. We were in NY at Christmas and Vegas November, so feel a bit US overloaded atm. Thank you for the suggestions 😊

Depending on the time of year I would fly to South Africa and get the rovos rail to Victoria falls. You can then do a safari in Zimbabwe or cross into Botswana or Zambia.

Blue train South Africa Pretoria to Cape Town. Incredible. Luxurious to the max worth 10 of the orient express. Then stay at camps bay in Cape Town maybe at the Atlantic a view

Very close to Groot Constantia winery - do a few days touring wineries. Lovely meals and luxury. Maybe La Cle' or L Ermitage. Have dinner at La Petite Ferme

Very very doable on that budget x

Zanzibar. Nwungi beach.

Holidayqueen1 · 17/02/2023 15:31

We’ve just come back from Kwazulu Natal which was amazing! You could do the blue train as PP suggested then fly from CPT to durban and head off to a gorgeous safari lodge for 3-4 nights. We stayed at Rhino River Lodge which was honestly unbelievable!!! Phinda is highly recommended too but we couldn’t stretch to that!!
Great time of year to visit South Africa, food is great too!
have you thought about Ecuador and the Galapagos? Or Namibia?

MarkWithaC · 17/02/2023 15:40

Western USA (Colorado, Arizona etc)?
Or Mexico?
India? I've only been to the south (Goa and Tamil Nadu) but it was wonderful; the Goan backwaters are beautiful and there are these amazing open-air rock reliefs in the seaside town of Mamallapuram.
Or further north, somewhere a bit cliched but apt, like Agra for the Taj Mahal (and surrounding sights and areas, obviously).

Personally I'd love to go to Patagonian Chile (or is it Chilean Patagonia?) but realise that's probably a bit niche Grin

Fenella123 · 17/02/2023 15:44

'kinhell that's a nice problem to have 🙂
Um how about The Ghan or Indian Pacific (luxury trains across Oz)?

Or Antarctica cruise?
