Cape Town excursions

We're possibly going to have 4 nights in Cape Town in August, staying at the Waterfront Hotel. I know there's plenty to do but I'd like to book before we go. Any suggestions for excursion providers, especially to do with penguins/whale watching? Any other must do suggestions? Kids will be 12 and 15.

If you’re hiring a car you can do a cape peninsula drive yourself in a day for sure, otherwise there are loads of very similar day tours on the same sort of route (penguins etc). You can get some with locals through Airbnb which will probably provide more history etc. could do a day trip to Franschhoek for the wine tram - plenty of kids go on this, there are lovely gardens etc as well as wine. Usual robben island, table mountain - just book those online to avoid queues. Kirstenbosch botanical gardens are lovely. I always think the hopper bus is a good way of starting out to get an overview of stuff. You could do a tour of a township if you were so inclined. And if you’re foodies there are some amazing (and relatively cheap) restaurants.
