First time Italy with kids

We (partner me and two kids 8 and 3) are planning to go to Italy for the very first time during Easter Break. Thinking 10 days or so. I literally have no idea where to go first. I love cities and history but also don't want to spend all our time pushing a buggy around a big city. My gut says to head to Tuscany but friends have also recommended Puglia. Ideally we'd like to not have to rent a car. Please help me plan this trip

Tuscany would be my recommendation. You could have a lovely day out in Siena, which has a special ‘campo’, and there are lots of other lovely towns. If you think you can cope with a city, then of course Florence is great too. Another idea would be to go to Genova as a base. It has a brilliant aquarium and then you could do a boat trip to Portofino and Cinque Terre.

We went to Puglia for the first time last summer with our almost 2.5 year old and loved it. We stayed at a resort in Torre Canne which was brilliant for families and children. We didn’t venture out much, apart from to walk to the bars/ restaurants along the beach of Torre Canne but our family members that we met out there went on to places like Ostuni and Monopoli which were not very far at all however a car would be pretty much a necessity!
I’d definitely recommend.

Sorrento is a great base to explore on public transport. You can get the train to Naples, Herculaneum & Pompeii. You can get the bus down the Amalfi Coast to Positano, Amalfi, Ravello & Salerno. You can get a ferry or boat along the coast or across to Capri.
Lots of hotels in Sorrento, very family friendly & great play park.

I live in Puglia and would go to Tuscany. Lots to do and see and it won't be hot enough for beaches here at Easter.

Agree with this especially if you don't want to rent a car.

When DS was 5 we went to Lake Garda. Lots to do on and around the lake, Gardaland, cable cars etc
