Suggestions for non-Europe destination with h 6 and 8 year old

Big birthday next year and would like to have a family holiday away as a celebration. I’ve been to Thailand a couple of times and love it so tempted to take the kids but also would like to see somewhere new.

Australia is pushing it I think as that would be way too much. I don’t really like anything too touristy but also a wimp so not too far off the beaten track!

Any suggestions?

I’ll check out your post @Syppox2000. Was there a reason to take private hire over self drive? Are the roads dodgy or unsafe?

We’re booking it all ourselves, we do a big 3/4 weeks trip once a year and I love all of the research and the planning just as much as the trip- might sound a bit sad!

There is lots of good family travel bloggers with itinerary suggestions to put together a rough route and I will am just piecing together what will suit us. Lots of travel companies who run Costa Rica trips also have their itineraries online with a lot of detail to use as a resource.

That’s how I usually plan out trips and we’ve not had a bad one but won’t know until we get there!

Direct flights from London were a lot more reasonable than I would have thought also.

no we just decided we would rather relax and enjoy the scenery !
Not dangerous and roads are fine . Lots of people we met were self driving . Only one family had a bad experience with dodgy police trying it on with speeding fine !
