Hello everyone, 👋

We are looking to go on holiday to Thailand in March.
We have been to Bangkok and Koh Samui so thought we would do Phuket this time around. We don't want to stay over in Bangkok, and are considering staying in 2 places so can anyone suggest anywhere that is near the Phuket side that we could consider please and things to see please
Thank you.

Koh lanta is lovely

Chiang Mai? Quite a different vibe and lots to see.

khao Lak is lovely. You can also go to khao Sok to visit the national park.

Cannot comment to much on other areas but loved Phuket look at flight via Dubai or instanbul into Phuket save transfer at Bangkok.

I really want to go to Chang Mai.

we’ve just come home this week from 3 weeks in Thailand. Loved it.

We flew with Qatar in November straight to phuket via Doha. Dead easy.

Chiang Mai is amazing - really cool, different vibe to the beach resorts

Another vote for Khao Lak or Koh Lanta. When I go to Phuket I don’t actually stay in Phuket, I always travel up to Khao Lak which is a bit more peaceful.

I live in Bangkok and love holidaying in Koh Chang - it'll be lovely and dry in March (I'm going in Feb). It's way less touristy and super laid back with great beaches, beautiful scenery and fantastic restaurants. The west coast has the most spectacular sunsets too. We like Hua Hin too, easy to get to from the city.

We did Railay, Koh Lanta, Phi Phi and Phuket. Railay by far the favourite! Koh Lanta a bit quiet, Phi Phi the opposite and expensive to get decent accom.

Hi OP.
This holiday was hardly for this year by any chance?
If so - how did you find the weather in March?
We are considering going next year for 2.5 weeks from mid March, arriving home on 31st March.
I have heard it gets very hot around March/April time.
Would you say it is too hot the last two weeks of March?
We would be splitting our stay between Phuket, Samui and either Lipe or Krabi.
Reason for choosing that time is that the final week coincides with the start of the Easter school holidays.
TIA.

It's been SO HOT this March/April, the hottest in years, but that has more to do with the heatwave that swept through Asia. It was hitting 40 most days. However, much nicer in beach areas as you do get a decent breeze in some places.

koh phi phi is close to Phuket and in my opinion so much nicer, highly recommend

Bubbles254 · 15/05/2023 05:13

Chiang mai, chaing rai and the north of Thailand is nice to combine with the beach. We have also combined Phuket with Hong Kong if you want an alterative city to Bangkok.
