We are staying near Lucca in Italy during the Easter holidays. I am trying to get some ideas for good days out. We will have a car but I’m guessing it will be easier to use trains to visit cities like Pisa and Florence?
Also wondering which beaches are worth a visit. I know it won’t be beach weather but would be nice to have a walk, paddle etc A quick look on google shows some beaches seem to be covered with parasols so might belong to local hotels? Don’t know if there is public access to all beaches.
Kids are young teens but happy to look round old buildings/museums and enjoy boat trips, trying local food etc

Trains are great. Book in advance via the Trenitalia app.
Obviously Florence is a must, as are Pisa and Siena, San Gimignano. You only need an afternoon or morning in Pisa. The station in Siena is quite a way from the centre if you don't like walking.
But tickets for entrance into places in advance, online. Easter will be rammed everywhere.
The beaches with parasols and sunbeds don't belong to hotels, but are private, so you buy a ticket to use them. Most don't open till mid-May at the earliest so you'd be able to use them at Easter but obvs the facilities (toilets, showers, bars) won't be up and running.
You'll have the best steak of your existence at the Trattoria dell'oste in Florence.
