I would like to go somewhere hot over the next month or so. . Need guaranteed heat but not extortionate prices. A big ask I know. Any recommendations from the UK? Just a read a book in the heat break no excursions required but eateries nearby , and i am a solo traveller.

Thanks in advance.

Guaranteed heat at this time of year would be mid-long haul. Morocco and Egypt are fairly close and not too expensive, but it depends how comfortable you are about going there as a single traveller. Personally I’d be more comfortable about going to Mexico or Thailand, and neither as as extortionate as say Dubai or Florida.

Cape Verde?
Not much to do so for chilling and book reading it would be perfect. We also felt pretty safe there too

Canaries should be ok by mid Feb and fit the bill in terms of what you want to do. I found Lanzarote a bit cheaper than Tenerife for hotels and eating out.
Do you want to use a heated pool, and does it matter if it's apartment or hotel ?

Poppygoestheweasel · 20/01/2023 15:03

Thanks for the replies. Not fussed about whether it is an apartment or hotel so long as it is safe and clean. Heated pool even better. Don't need night life as such, happy just pottering with a bit of sun through the day and chilling at night with a book glass of wine in my room.

Haven't been anywhere since covid started and worked through every sodding sunny day since so just want to feel the heat on my bones. Can't be bothered with other people either. I sound lovely don't I !!!! 'Been there' for everyone and just want some ME time. 😎

I was going to say Canaries although I don’t think THAT hot at this time of year.

The only winter Sun I’ve ever done is Mauritius for a wedding but that was December. It was amazing though.

Following with interest as I’m in the same boat. Although currently debating saying sod it and booking Barbados for a week!

Been to Morroco and Egypt many moons ago. Loved Egypt especially but i didn't go on my own and although I loved the atmosphere and history i wouldn't be comfortable going.on my.own now. Been to Dubai about 8 or 9 years ago. I worked in Saudi at the time and could afford it. It was a welcome relief from the constraints of Saudi but it is out of my price bracket for what I'm looking for at the minute.

Wouldn't mind going to Thailand Florida or Mexico but for a week trip maybe too long haul and maybe better with someone. I have travelled.the world many.many times on my.own but as I've got older I'm more cautious and less adventurous. May need to reconsider longer haul if I'm hellbent on guaranteed sun though !

Thank you none the less.

Thank you for this suggestion maybe not this time for a week break, but it sounds and looks lovely, will def keep it in mind for future travels though.

I'm going to Lanzarote in February but guaranteed heat it is not.
I have been to canaries in winter many times and at best it will be mid 20s by day and cool in the evening. At worst it could be cloudy with rain.
Also so called heated pools are not warm enough unless you are in a villa.
I go because it's always better than UK and you'd be unlucky not to get any hot days but people are sometimes disappointed that it's not like Greece in August

This is what i was afraid of. I'm either going to have to bite the bullet and go longer haul or wait until April May time for the promise of better weather. 😌

Cape Verde, if you fly via Lisbon really cheap

Movinghouseatlast · 21/01/2023 15:05

Barbados! You can do it in a budget if you stay in an apartment and eat in or at the cheaper restaurants.

Twilightstarbright · 21/01/2023 18:14

Gambia or Senegal, both will be 30c and Tui do packages. We went to Gambia and had a fabulous time, barely left the hotel but all we wanted was to sit by a pool and read books in the sun.
